Korea Content: Good News 굿뉴스 (2025)

If you like Korean cinema style, satire, dark comedy and politics and historical events, the Korean movie Good News 굿뉴스 by Byun Sung-hyun, is recommended to watch.

I know this post came late as Good News has been released in October 2025 or two months ago. However, the series Made in Korea featuring Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung released at Disney Hulu in December 2025, also featured the hijacked Japan Air Lines flight 351 in 1970, at its first episode.

The Good News has presented a bold style, political satire, and genre-blending storytelling on how government manage crisis behind the scenes (I must use the word incompetence), media setting, international politics and absurd of bureaucracy during crisis. The movie is inspired by, not a detailed facts of the abovementioned hijack

While actor Sol Kyung-gu smoothly present an unpredictable character and Hong Kyung presented promising acting as a young and ambitious radar operator, I would like to focus on Ryu Seung-bum (류승범), who is my top five favorite Korean actors and known for intense screen presence.

In Good News, actor Ryu Seung-bum delivered a complex emotion and energy and brought depth to his character as Park Sang-hyeon, the director of Korean Central Intelligence Agency. When he entered the scene, the presence was very strong (he is always). He built a strong ground for the narrative, the story and other performances.

Overall, Ryu Seung-bum’s role in “Good News” has received positive reviews from critics. His skilled acting, thoughtful character interpretation, and powerful screen presence are acknowledged as significant contributions to the film’s success that brought a witty critique of bureaucratic spinelessness.

I hope you watch Good News to enjoy funny and chaotic situation combined, under clever writing and delivered by great performers.
